To celebrate Earth Day and engage with plein-air enthusiasts across the globe, Warrior Painters initiated the #PleinAirpril Challenge in 2017. The #PleinAirpril Challenge is a social media campaign that challenges artists and painting enthusiasts to paint and share one plein-air painting a day during the month of April. Over the past seven years, thousands of artists worldwide have participated in the challenge! Explore the #PleinAirpril hashtag on Instagram.

This year, we are partnering with Cara with the goal to discover more new artists and share their PleinAirpril artwork:

1. • Cara is a new social media and portfolio platform for artists (Sign up for a free account here). One of its standout features is the capability to filter out AI-generated images, fostering a safer space for human artists to share their work. Try out the auto Glaze function on Cara!

   • Given Instagram's recent limitations on artwork discovery via hashtags, we advise participants to consider posting on Cara for increased visibility. Content shared on Cara stands a better chance of being discovered and reshared by our community.

Below are the 2024 challenge guidelines:

1. Every day of April 2024, paint one painting and post on your Instagram and/or Cara to participate. 

1. • We recommend that you use the themes "City, Forest, Ocean, Mountain" this year to observe and paint different landscapes.

   • When you post, please include hashtag #PleinAirpril, tag @warriorpainters (on Instagram) and/or @warriorpainters (on Cara). We'll re-share your art with the world! 

2. You can use any medium – traditional or digital.

4. • PleinAirpril is about practicing and experimenting. It's a great time to paint with new mediums that you aren't comfortable with and get better with them while learning a lot from other participants! 
     
     

3. Challenge yourself to paint more from life!

4. • Capturing the changing light and shadow when painting from life is hard but also rewarding.

   • Photo studies or vitual plein-air are cool too, as long as you paint everyday!
